Friday Things....

Made a quick trip into Dallas today to re-stock my favorite of all t-shirts. 

The Sexuali-Tee from American Apparel.   Has anyone else tried these?  I hate the name, but the shirts are great.  They are made of viscose so they're really swingy and drapey.  They are also quite large, if you were petite, they could be worn as a dress.  I love them!  The price is great too at $34.00.  

I also picked up these cute cropped jeans at Madewell.  They are in the current Bazaar.

Cute outfit!  They are listed at $98.50, but they are on promotion right now for $69.00.  Great deal!

Also...tomorrow is my Birthday!  I don't even like to think about birthday's anymore, but what a great excuse to indulge myself.  (I'll take any excuse)  I went on E-bay this morning and purchased these incredible Martin Margiela vampire airbrushed sandals....

Happy Birthday to me!!!  Can't wait. These are so me...I had to have them.  Can anyone tell me what season these are from?

 Carol and I have been watching old episodes of the X-files, and I was definitely inspired to purchase these because of the episode where Mulder falls for the fragile vampire, not to mention the Christopher Kane Planet of the Apes printed pieces.  I love all these harsh graphic images...

Finally...my sconces are up and functional.  I had the wires run through the wall and put on a switch.  I'm really liking these.  They were perfect for my entryway.

The Stephen Sprouse jacket is on it's way to Ohio to an expert re-weaver to see what can be done.  I should get a verdict shortly.  I'll let you all know.

Someone commented about men's clothes.  I wish I could, I would need a pair of male eyes to go with me on buying trips, but definitely something to think about.

And lastly--I was asked about the painting in my dining room a while back.  It's actually not a painting, but an old chalkboard from a defunct machine shop.

New Stellas....

Just got these new Stella McCartney sandals...I really like them!  They're so comfortable...

Jane and I were running errands in Downtown Dallas and I snapped this photo of her..I thought it turned out really cute..

A huge thanks to everyone for supporting the site!  It's kickoff has been phenomenal!!  Everything that has been ordered and paid for has been shipped--except one little shirt.  It was the Ralph Lauren silk pirate blouse.  It was the first item sold, and a disabled button omitted the buyers address.  We have attempted to e-mail buyer twice but no luck.  They could be using an old e-mail address...So:  Buyer of Ralph Lauren poet blouse, if you are reading, we would very much like to get your shirt to you ASAP, but we need a shipping address.  Thanks, and so sorry for the mix up...judy

Grey Gardens

Beautiful rooms via The Paris Apartment.  This is another favorite blog that I check several times a week.

I just saw the trailer for the new version of Grey Gardens with Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore.  I've really had mixed feelings about turning a documentary into a movie, especially this one, but after viewing the trailer, HBO may have just pulled it off.  Drew does a dead on Edie, and Jessica Lange was the perfect choice for big Edie.  I'll definitely want to see it.  Did anyone see the trailer?--Wonder what you all thought.

Bittersweet

I was so excited to find a vintage Stephen Sprouse wool biker jacket from the 80's!!!  Sadly, or should I say tragically, the moths had a party in this jacket.  

It's hot pink with an acid orange satin lining...

Jane tried it on.....

I'm going to take this treasure to a fabric re-weaver and see what can be done for it.  I wouldn't mind spending quite a bit to restore it to it's former  glory. (not to mention, a very thorough dry cleaning)  I still have my original hairy glitter Stephen Sprouse jacket from the 80's...

With all of the Louis Vuitton  Stephen Sprouse inspired pieces out there--I think this makes his original pieces much more collectible.

I actually really like the graffiti bags to look at, I don't think I could carry one though.

I'll let you all know how my jacket turns out.  I plan on putting this on  Plainobjects.com.  If it can be restored, terrific!  If not, I plan to put it on the site anyway, and sell it "as is" and priced accordingly.  Either way, this wonderful piece will be finding a new home.  I think it could a fabulous DIY project if it cannot be restored.  Maybe some graffiti patches and studding, or maybe just kept as is and a little grungy.  

Lastly--Thank You all so much for the incredible kick off of Plainobjects.com.  It has been much more successful than I imagined.  Thanks for all your patience, we have had a few glitches, but things are going much more smoothly now.  Keep checking, I'm home today photographing lots of new things!  They should be up in a couple of days...

New CDG's.....

I decided against the beuatiful Dries sandals that I had posted earlier--they did not fit me well at all.  Because I'm first cousin to sasquatch, I have to go up to size 11 in Dries, and that heavily beaded part that goes around your ankle just flopped around on me..

So Instead, I had Stacy from Barney's order these fabulous CDG brogues.

I just got them.  Aren't they cute?   The girls and I went out for some thrifting and lunch today, so I wore them, and they're so comfortable.

At Genesis wearing Balenciaga leather jacket...we saw a reader there.  I didn't catch her name, but it's so fun to run into your readers...lunch was next.  I'm afraid we waited too long, and we were starving by the time we sat down...

cool sofa.....Jane just happened to have on her CDG electric blue sandals from spring last year, so we had to snap a photo of them together.  CDG makes truly inspirational shoes!  I think I will wear these forever...

Adam Wallacavage

Knowing my love of all things octopi, one of my readers alerted me to the work of Adam Wallacavage.  Thanks to Elisa Leone of Design Nomad for showing me Adam's work, and check out Elisa's blog as well.  It's full of art, objects, and all manner of interesting things.  It's on my daily reads.  Elisa forwarded me photos of Adam's incredible octopus chandeliers, sconces, and candelabras.

I asked Adam a little about his work via e-mail:

How are the pieces made?

I sculpt them in clay, then make molds and then cast the tentacles in plaster. 

And why Octopi or such a sea theme?

I just like using the tentacle form because there is so much I can do with it. When I think up what I want to do next, I'll do it. I want the inspiration to come to me naturally so I try not to think to hard about what I want to do next. 

One of these Chandeliers or Candelabras is definitely on my wish list...And, Adam does custom work too!

Finally!!!!

My website is open...at last!!  For now there are just a few of the vintage items...but I will be adding a lot of things this coming week, including the Atlantis Dry Goods.  We begin our spring break today, and I'm staying home this year to work on the site!!  It was quite difficult to find a website designer, and in the end,  my dear Mom ended up building this website--I think she's done a terrific job!  Thanks Mom!!  She has all of the structure of the site finished, it's just about filling in the pieces now.

Go have a look.  Right now the site is under Plainobjects.com  It will be switched over to Atlantisdrygoods.com probably next week.  We had some problems with a server.  However, you will be able to access the site from both names.  (hope that's not too confusing)

**If you have  problems with any section of the site, please e-mail me immediately.  We've done a few test runs, but expect to have a few kinks initially.

Sweet Dreams

This is the most luxurious bedroom.  I love the polished concrete floors and fur throws.  It has a decadent but primal feel at the same time....

I could definitely sleep here.  I just finished painting my own bedroom yesterday, and I will post some photos later.  Bedroom photo via Desire to Inspire--one of my favorite blogs...

Digging in my Attic--Finding Studs.....

I'm loving all the studding that's been on the runway last few seasons--

Loved the DIY version from Maisondesreveries.   (check out this blog--so great!!)

These two vest from Balmain are great too....I'm so happy to see studs again.  I had so many great studded things in the 80's, but sadly, I donated most of them to the Goodwill.  Rummaging around in my attic, I did find my stash of 80's studded belts.  I had quite a few...I wore one the other day, but here is a photo of some of them...

It's definitely time again for 80's type statement belts.  I loved this belt from Balmain Fall 09.
