While we were in Austin, we stopped at the most incredible toy store--TOY JOY. I thought it was every bit as great as KiddyLand in Tokyo. Here are a few pictures we snapped in the store. Thanks to all the staff helping us that night, you guys were so much fun!!
That is a lot of octopi....
Godzilla having a snack...Not to worry, they have plenty more babies..
Tiger boas--would have been great for Halloween...I'll have to remember that for next year.
Battle at the cash register...
Of Course I had to get a couple of plastic dinosaurs...
They even have a cafe!! I tried the bubble tea..once was enough.
If you're planning a trip to Austin, put Toy Joy on your list of places to go...you won't be disappointed!
Finally got the vintage furs up on the site, so have a look if you get a chance. We will be shutting the site down in a week or so to get ready for our holiday offering---I've got a pretty great collection started!!
**To Hannah H. Remember the belt we discussed? I had some made if you are still in need, just send me an e-mail--sorry, when I went back to Mac--lost your e-maill address.
Seems like a dream like place! The cats look so cute!

The toys look so fun! What is bubble tea?
Posted by: Daisy | November 08, 2009 at 12:10 PM
Bubble tea is made with gelatinous clear blobs that are supposed to resemble bubbles. I didn't know they were in the tea and was quite surprised when I encountered one of these blobs! The sensation was gross!

Hi Judy ~
Toy Joy is a blast!! I can't wait to go back to Austin & take my 9 year old son their - he will go nuts just like I did! I agree with you about the "bubbles" in the tea...nasty (LoL).
I got my Lucky magazine in the mail the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see Jane. Loved the makeup tips! I know you are a proud mom. :-)
Hasn't the weather here in Dallas been fantastic lately? Have a great week!

I was wondering if you could recommend some good places to shop in Philadelphia... preferably not too expensive, like thrift stores, etc? I'm going in three days for the Marcel Duchamp exhibition! But of course I want to go shopping also...

I remember in an episode of SATC, that baby shower Carrie goes to they were having cocktails with those mini baby toys dropped into the glass. I thought that was a pretty cute idea!
Bubble tea is sooo good but too many places make disgusting versions of it.

That full-length shot of you holding up the dinosaur is like something out of a collaboration between Juergen Teller and Kate Moss a few years ago, the one that was anti-war and had Kate in front of a church, buying groceries, etc.
Very, very cool.

i'll have to visit the store when i visit my friends in Austin. And as for bubble tea, you have to go with someone who knows what to order. I didn't like it first, but now i LOVE it and crave it all the time. The "bubbles" are made of tapioca.
