My collection of Christopher Ross belts is about to expand. I was recently contacted by a very close friend of Christopher, and was able to purchase a good part of her own Christopher Ross collection. Should be arriving next week, I can't wait to show you guys! There will be new pieces that I have never seen in person before.....
I'll post photos as soon as they arrive!!! Everyone have a great weekend...and thanks for all the comments on the new room. I will take them all under consideration......
I'm sure some of you were in front of your computers last Sunday when the big collection of Christopher Ross went off on E-bay. (I know some of you collect too) It was a great chance to own some of his more hard to get pieces. I managed to get two, the Rabbit:
I got this at a fair price. I was ready to get pretty aggressive however, one slipped away from me a couple of summers ago. I also purchased another lion. This was brand new stock, and this lion is much more shiny than my other.
He's really too shiny to allow the detail to show. This is one of Christopher's most spectacular pieces, and as a collector, I would buy the lion anytime it's at a fair price. These buckles also had their original belts which is nice. Sometimes they come without the belt. I also purchased the frog the week before--it's been a very busy time for Christopher Ross pieces on E-bay.
I photographed my Gazelle again too--I don't think I've really shown this one...
It's really beautiful. Owning Christopher Ross belts is like a little piece of sculpture around your waist--they are very addictive!!! The following belts are for sale on E-bay right now. These are the sellers pics--if interested, just type in Christopher Ross....
I really like this elephant. I purchased so many last week, I'll probably sit this auction out. I think this is a really good one though....judy
I'm so excited! A new piece of Christopher Ross just arrived in the mail. This is his fox belt done in 1976, and I have been looking for it for a while now. Here are a couple of photos.
Look at how his eyes glow in the sun! Below is my dragon belt that I featured earlier but I just had to share the close up of his incredible face. Wouldn't you love to meet the woman that originally purchased this belt?
I started collecting 80's animal belts some time ago. (I didn't have the means to afford any really nice belts in the 80's, so I decided now was my chance) I really became obsessed when the Sex and the City movie came out last summer and I saw Carrie's great elephant belt. It was actually pictured in the book, not sure if the belt made the movie--Carrie was too fixated on the Roger belt, which was also unbelievable, and I completely adore Patricia Field's styling--back to the animal belts. I photographed my collection today--it has become quite large, but I'm still avidly searching for more.
Here is a group of them around my dress form...
This is a Christopher Ross lion belt--one of my first great finds..
This another Christopher Ross piece--a dragon. This is possibly my favorite, the details are amazing.
Another Christopher Ross...the unicorn.
Laloon was another designer of great 80's belts--I have managed to find a few of these. Below is the elephant---I like this one better than Carrie's.
I have also been lucky enough to find two of the Laloon tigers, and the lion.
I'll show these soon with outfits...so long for now.
