Last Thursday V.O.D. hosted a jewelry show for Atlantis Vintage. It was a huge success!! We came home with only a tiny box of pieces leftover. Here are some pics.....
Here I am with Jane, Kim Whitman, and Kim's little sister Krystal.
Jane looking at her shoe picks that just came out in FDluxe.
Thanks to Sarah from Vintage Wines for providing fabulous champagne. Photo by Hance Taplin. Also thanks to Stoli for the cocktails, and James Cope for the music!
Jane with friends Ariella and Monique.
Close up of Jane's jewelry and my Christopher Ross monkey belt by Hance Taplin.
The amazing Leslie Pritchard from Again and Again, and her friend buying the billy goat belt and trying it as a necklace.
Photo Hance Taplin.
Jane borrowed my favorite vintage Vivienne Westwood jacket from What Goes Around, Comes Around. One of my very favorite vintage boutiques in New York.
Me with Evans Caglage, iconic photographer from the Dallas Morning News--I've known Evans since I was a teenager!
I'm wearing Jean Francois Mimilla necklace from If Boutique in New York. It's really an amazing necklace made from tiny blown glass bubbles filled with antique fabric.

I love this coat!
Christopher Ross horse belt.

Nathalie sent me this amazing sting ray necklace-he is out on a shoot now.
Jane with Nicole and friend. Nicole is so cute. Just 15, and already an avid vintage jewelry collector!
Loved the flyers V.O.D. put in the window....

A gigantic thanks to Jackie and Liz from V.O.D. Boutique for having us--it was truly a blast!!
Please e-mail me if I left anything out.

Looks like every body had a great time, I love jewellery and you certainly have some amazing pieces there!

I really like your massive necklace, at first i thought it was costume pearls until you explained it. I also like the idea of the woman that wrapped the gold belt around the neck.

Looks like it was such fun. So much eye candy. Jane's necklace reminds me of the "Mighty Isis" show I used to watch on tv, a million years ago. Would love to see a close up shot of your amazing necklace!

Judy, WOW! What a visual feast!!!!
So many pieces to love...
Your "pearls" lol [& even more in awe upon discovering that they are indeed glass baubles with fabric inside- genius!], fantastic, in all of its full glory around your neck!
Leslie's neck piece - LOVE!
& her friend's belt-around-the-neck reminds me of the VERY thing I did for a charity dinner a few years back - joining 2 vintage [well more St. Vinnies pieces at about $1 a pop! lol] belts, one around the neck & the other hanging from it as a pendant of sorts. I received SO many compliments that evening & was told to start my own jewellery line!
I LOVE bold jewellery like this & ALSO, since seeing your selection of CR belts, have quietly been coveting those too!
I cannot wait to make my way to Texas to raid some of your & Jane's favourite vintage haunts!
I take HUGE inspiration from you & your girl - the world is just a wonderful place, FULL of fabulous adventures, opportunities & PEOPLE that one cannot help but smile-one's-biggest, take a HUGE gulp & just run with it!
cheers
Liesl aka lulubrownskin
PS: Jane was featured in Australia Vogue March issue - a pic of her in her Crillon Ball Chanel Couture - & in reference to how blogging has become an integral part of the fashion shows & fashion world in general.

love the billy goat piece as a necklace

You do have some exquisite pieces, not least your sumptuous "pearl" necklace. I love Jane's vintage lace dress, she looks beautiful in it.
Is the silver-coloured necklace worn by the lady trying the billy-goat belt as a necklace one of yours or do you know anything about it?

What a beautiful post! Too much wonderfulness to comment on individual elements- I'm overwhelmed, in a very good way!
From what we're seeing lately, ie. people's mindset & attitudes re: the economy/throw-away society, vintage is where it's at! Further proof is your success at the VOD show.
I enjoyed this post immensely. Might be my favorite yet. :)

Wow, that looks like it was a really great event!
I was looking throught the photos, and noticed that one of my drawings was on one of the flyers. That has completely made my day!
I love the huge pearl necklace that you are wearing, I have been searching for a similiar one myself- it works so well with the simple dress.
I collect vintage jewelery too. It all started when I was about nine and decided I "needed to collect something special", and decided it should be brooches. Mainly because I already had some, and they were easily raided from around our house and various family members. But that small collection then expanded to include a multitude of necklaces (so many now I have had to put hooks on my bookcase to store them all), lots of rings, vintage watches and an array of Victorian bangles. So I really admired some of the pieces here!
Oh, and I've sent you an email with the questions.
